Sometimes, you just don't know what you have 'til it's gone.
When "Ben 10" first aired, I was neutral on Gwen. Sometimes I liked her just fine, other times I found her annoying (mainly as the show went on and the story editors started using her for Positive Discrimination). And then the retool/sequels happened, and the teen version of Gwen got worse and worse and WORSE in how downright BORING she was as a character. So when I went back to the original and saw the REAL Gwen Tennyson again, I suddenly came to adore this girl! She may have her faults, but she feels HUMAN, she has an actual PERSONALITY. I mean, just look at how damn expressive she is! It's so much more engaging and enjoyable than the dull-eyed, serious look of that square-jawed, half-Anodite loser! How could Glen Murakami and company screw her up so badly? >_<
It's a shame we'll never get the true Gwen back in any new material. We got the vocals in "Destroy All Aliens", but not the epic facial animation. We got the epic facial animation in "Omniverse", but it's coupled with Ashley Johnson doing an obvious impersonation of Meagan Smith. Oh well. Man of Action's Gwen Tennyson of 2006-2008 (and her faces) will still always be treasured by me nonetheless.
